CHALLENGE

Develop a brand identity for the new cultural center, Center for Asian Pacific Islander Student Empowerment (CAPISE), at San Jose State University.

SOLUTION

A logo formed by using elements of the Asian and Pacific Islander cultures, such as the sun, traditional flowers, and the ocean.

COLOR & TYPOGRAPHY

The vibrant color palette reflects the traditional elements that inspired the final logo: the sun, the ocean, a lotus flower, and a hibiscus flower.

For the logo’s supporting text, we chose the Classico URW typeface. This sans-serif typeface carries the elegance of a serif typeface in a subtle way, making it an ideal complement to the gentle nature of the ocean and the flowers.

Classica Pro and Neue Haas Grotesk are used for promotional materials. Classica Pro brings a more sophisticated feel while Neue Haas Grotesk, a well-recognized typeface, creates a sense of comfort.
